Frequently Asked Questions

What will we actually do?

I always work within a three step framework:

1. Start with the end in mind. First off we will spend some time determining what you would really like to get from our time together. Sometimes people come to me with clear idea of what they wish to achieve and other times just a sense that things are just not quite right. Whatever the situation we will explore the outcome so that it is clear and compelling.

2. Determine where you are now. With reference to your goals we will then get to understand where you are now.

3. Pave the way. Having determined our goals and starting position we will then start to determine what you need to achieve it and/or what is holding you back from achieving it. At this stage we will have a good idea of the work that we have to do together and I will be able to provide you with an idea of the time that we will need to spend together.

Quite often, it's not what you are that holds you back; it's what you think you are not. Together we will change these limiting beliefs.

In some cases our time together will be no more than a few sessions. In other cases on-going 'maintenance' is the preferred approach. Coaching can be performed through a choice combination of face-to-face and telephone time. Face-to-face sessions are 90 minutes and telephone coaching sessions are 45 minutes.

Will it be difficult?

To be successful I will need your utmost commitment and dedication to working with me to reach your goals. Whilst this could be challenging at times my aim is for you to enjoy every moment of your coaching - whatever the issue we are dealing with.

What are your qualifications?

My business experience started in earnest in 1997 when I founded my first business. My formal coaching training started in the year 2000. Since then I have been a practicing coach both in and outside of my business. My coaching is NLP based and I am a Master Practitioner in NLP. NLP is derived from the study of excellence in human behaviour.

What can I expect?

Within reason, if you give our time your full commitment you can have anything that any other human being has. Some people are predisposed with physical or genetic advantage so whilst I can't claim to help you become a world class runner I can help you play your hand at your very best. If you want to run the Marathon, we can do that, if you want to make more money, we can do that, if you want a more fulfilling love life, we can do that. You are a human being and I already believe in your amazing ability.

There is nothing major wrong with me. Why do I need a coach?

You don't have to have major issues to use a coach. The majority of my clients just know that they could be doing better and need some assistance. Consider coaching to be the same as sports coaching. There is nothing wrong with the athlete - they just want to achieve more.

What is NLP?

I use NLP a lot in my coaching. NLP was founded in 1975 at the University of California (Santa Cruz) by a psychologist and linguist, Dr. John Grinder, and a psychology student and psychotherapist, Richard Bandler. You could think of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) as an owner's manual for the brain. It provides a very powerful model and set of tools for understanding and developing how the brain codes learning and experience. This coding affects all communication and behaviour. It affects how you learn and how you percieve the world around you. It is a key to reaching goals and achieving excellence.

What are the benefits of using NLP?

NLP can help you to achieve your goals, improve relationships and communication, control you own internal mental states, create powerful new internal states, align your internal resources for maximum enjoyment, and communicate quickly and effectively.

In short, you will find it easier to achieve your personal and professional goals, because you'll gain greater access to your internal resources as well as have more fun while doing it.
